Bishop Auckland College has many years experience of providing a range of Higher Education programmes validated by our Higher Education partner the University of Sunderland. By choosing to study at your local college you will benefit from living at home and have less travel expenses. Students will also benefit from one to one contact within smaller class sizes and tutorial sessions giving them the attention they need to progress in their studies.

You may not have previously considered going to university but our strong partnership with the University of Sunderland opens up new pathways and opportunities for everyone. By choosing to study at Bishop Auckland you can enjoy the benefits of both the College and the University. Although you will be based at Bishop Auckland College you are a student of the University of Sunderland.

Professor Peter Fidler, University of Sunderland Vice-Chancellor, said:
"I cannot help but marvel at the achievement of Bishop Auckland College, especially the way in which it has provided an infrastructure that is both a high-quality new build and a high-quality educational structure.

We regard the College as a key strategic partner of the University. We are all taking stock of what the world is going to look like in the next period, but we have not lost sight of that bigger vision."

College Principal Anne Isherwood said:
"Our aim is to provide more access routes into higher education for our communities by building a stronger relationship with the University."
